Tip of the Hat

Mini St Patty's Hat

I would like to thank Julie Fei-Fan Balzer for her wonderful Live with Prima Tiny Hat Demo, because that is how I learned how to make this, and to Red Robot (and my Luxo lamp) for serving as a model because Mowgli would not tolerate it and I couldn't get it to sit on my head and take pictures.

Some glamor shots :)

This was a very successful challenge for me, because I am usually not into holiday themes, glitter/shiny anything (there IS glitter glue around the brim, it is hard to see) and I usually need to read four or five sets of instructions before attempting a project, just going off one video is new for me. Finally, I ::gasp:: actually like how it came out. I can't believe I'm admitting that to the internet :)

Happy Crafting,
Kate

All That can come of this is CRAFTYNESS (yes, I spelled that wrong, so sue me)

Humans!

Mowgli, aka Mowgs, Mowglibuttz, Kirk,
Booger, ARGH OFF MY ART PROJECT

Since Kate is taking her fine-and-dandy-time getting around to updating this blog of hers, I have taken it upon myself to provide you with some enlightenment in the form of a formal introduction to me, especially since there are few projects that Kate completes that don't contain my marvelous hairs.

Now a bit about myself, I was a stray rescued in Nashville and adopted by Kate when I was 3 months old and a wee 2 pounds. I am now about a year and a half and a monster cat of 18 pounds. My favorite activities are napping, sleeping, eating, purring, waking humans up at ungodly hours of the night to be fed, knocking things off of tables/desks/etc, and sitting on craft projects or where craft projects are about to occur. And being cute. And eating.

Here are some of my glamor shots for you to admire:

Closely watching the water drain out the bathtub...for a reasons Kate does not understand.
Rest assured, this is not the last you shall see of me on this blog!

"On Confidence and Creating"

One of my artsy heros, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer writes a truly honest yet inspirational piece on creativity. Read it. Digest it. Try it. Trust it. I know I need to.

I wrote Julie once to show her a piece I made based on one of her tutorials (not really expecting a response, but was so excited when I got one!) and mentioned that I felt that so much of my judgement of art was wrapped up in my judgement of myself, and she basically agreed with me, and I was floored to have a professional artist affirm my feeling. It was a wonderful moment though: sad on the one hand to know that even successful creaties are working on their artistic courage, uplifting though to know I am not alone.

Also, my -$0.02 of brilliant insight into the media diet, RE: Etsy--Remember, there, people are SELLING art. It is an entirely different animal to CREATING art.
